Is all-wheel or 4 wheel drive is best for the winter?
I'm a little confused as to what is the difference between all wheel drive and four wheels. It's better than the other in the snow? I'm buying a new vehicle and need something reliable that I work during the stormy winter. Any suggestions? Thanks!
A set of dedicated winter tires to be used only as the Bridgestone Blizzak or Michelin X-Ice are orders of magnitude better than any other system 4WD and AWD. Having the engine to turn the wheel only helps with acceleration – not help you stop (in fact, excess weight increases stopping distances) or turn to avoid limiting or hitting parked truck. Get a regular front wheel drive car and invest in two sets of tires – the tires that came with the car "3-season "use and a set of dedicated winter tires to last from November to April. It's cheaper than AWD or 4WD, you get better gas mileage and insurance. Only my humble opinion, worth exactly $ 0.02
